As is usually the case, Colorado Avalanche star forward Nathan MacKinnon kept making history on Saturday after breaking a special triple-digit barrier.
MacKinnon just became the first player in the NHL to reach 100 points this season, scoring twice in the Colorado Avalanche’s 7-4 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday night.
MacKinnon gave the Avalanche a 5-4 lead with a wrist shot on the power play before sealing the game with an empty-net goal.
He now has 27 goals and 73 assists through 64 games this season. The 29-year-old has also extended his home point streak to 19 games.

This marks MacKinnon’s third consecutive 100-point campaign and places him alongside franchise legend Peter Stastny as the only Avalanche/Nordiques players to achieve the feat.
He is also just one point away from joining the NHL’s 1,000-point club, a milestone he could reach in his next game.

Asked about his consistency and what's been the key to his individual performance this season, MacKinnon offered a blunt response while appearing on Sportsnet's postgame show.
"Yeah, I just think it's a lifestyle to be elite," MacKinnon said. "To stay at the top of your game is very difficult.
"It's all the time when off the rink, (work) no one sees, but also, look at the players we have—it's not hard to get points with these guys."
MacKinnon, who won the Hart Trophy and Ted Lindsay Award last season, continues to lead the NHL in scoring. His career-best 140 points last year remain a career-high mark, but he is currently on pace for 128 points over a full 82-game season.
Following the Avalanche's win on Saturday, the team now has a 38-24-2 record and a two-point lead over Minnesota for third place in the Central Division.
