No Jonathan Toews, no problem. No Patrick Kane and no Toews, still, no problem. Chicago has won five straight games and have scored three or more goals in each win during its winning streak, which makes the Blackhawks (+1.5) on the puckline and the over of 2.5 goals a must bet.
And when you combine those two legs into a same-game parlay (SGP), you get -114 odds. By no means is -114 a great line, especially for an SGP, but with the Hawks playing their best hockey of the season and the Ducks sitting dead last in the Western Conference standings, this is good as it gets for a "conversative" SGP.
A lot of pundits thought Chicago would have moved Kane already, but for now, he's still a Blackhawk. Whether or not he is after Friday's trade deadline, well, we'll just have to wait and see. Kane didn't play in Saturday's win against San Jose, and we'd be surprised if he plays on Monday against Anaheim, however, despite Kane's uncertain future, the Hawks have had no problem winning. Could that finally catch up to the Hawks on Monday. Absolutely. And that's why we're going to play it safe and take Chicago (+1.5) on the puck line.
Anaheim has won back-to-back games and beat Chicago less than three weeks ago, so even though we like the underdog Hawks on the moneyline, we're only going to take them on the puck line. Both teams have split in the head-to-head series, but neither have won by more than a goal, which is why this Chicago (+1.5) is the most confident leg of our SGP.
As for the final leg of our SGP, we like the Hawks to score three or more goals. Chicago has scored three or more goals in each game during their winning streak and Anaheim has allowed the most goals in all of the NHL. And even though the Ducks haven't allowed two or more goals in back-to-back games and held the Hawks to two goals earlier this month, we don't see Chicago having much trouble managing three goals in this one.
Prior to Anaheim winning its last two games, the Ducks had allowed three or more goals in six consecutive games and even without Kane, the Hawks still don't lack offense. Plus, Anaheim goaltenders allow an average of 4.12 goals per game, meaning three goals or more is more likely to hit than miss. We know no bet is stress free or a guarantee, but don't be surprised if this SGP barely makes you sweat and hits with ease.
