NHL bets: Heading into the weekend with a pair of plus-money props

Friday's NHL slate is a bit of a mixed bag. It's hard to know how much these games matter to a handful of the teams, and even in those that do, the numbers aren't too inviting for the most part.

Fret not, we've found two bets we like, both at plus-money. I'll be lowering my unit stake on both looks, as today does not seem like a good day to go heavy on hockey props.

.75u: Ryan O'Reilly over 2.5 SOG (+115 Fanatics, +114 DraftKings)

I used a Fanatics boost to get this to +127.

Predators vs. Blackhawks, 8:30 p.m. ET

Nashville should be able to find plenty of shots tonight, even if their motivation to win is a bit hard to read. The Preds are averaging north of 36 shots per game as a team on the road over the last 45 days, and Chicago is allowing nearly 35 shots per game at home in that stretch.

Lately, it's been the center position that the Blackhawks have been most generous towards, allowing the sixth-most shots to the position across the last 10 games.

That gets O'Reilly on my o'radar, top-line center for Nashville.

ROR has 3+ shots in three straight and four of his last five games, and he hit this mark last meeting vs. the Blackhawks. I like the price in a matchup that seems likely to yield 34+ shots for Nashville.

.5u: Tomas Hertl power-play point (+375 ESPN BET)

Wild vs. Golden Knights, 10 p.m. ET

Tomas Hertl is making his home debut for the Vegas Golden Knights this evening, as the Knights push to clinch a playoff spot.

They should be able to win here, and they look good for 3-4+ goals. I'm drawn to Hertl getting involved, but rather than take his point at -125, I'm going to roll the dice on this price for him to log a point while on the power play.

Minnesota on the road has had some issues as it relates to killing penalties and handing out power play opportunities. The Wild have allowed 3+ power play opportunities in 19 of their last 25 games as the visitor, and they've allowed a power-play goal in nine of their past 12 on the road (12 total).

Hertl's first and only point so far for Vegas came on the power play, and his role in front of the net is prime for involvement in any scoring the Knights can do on a man-up advantage.

Again, I think his point at -125 is a very solid look if you'd prefer a safer route, he has six in his last five against the Wild.
