We've got Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals tonight, and New York desperately needs to get something after getting shut out at home to open the series.
I for one expect a more aggressive approach, which is the path I'm following for a pair of Rangers props tonight.
My primary read on tonight's game is to expect New York to up the intensity on home ice down 1-0 in the series. That should result in a bump in shots, and one such name that sticks out is Mika Zibanejad.
Zibanejad was tied for the team lead in attempts on Wednesday, tallying seven and finishing with two SOG.
That conversion rate is no good, but the volume is exactly what I like to see. Zibanejad now has 7+ attempts in four of six at home this postseason, and he's logged 7+ attempts in three straight against the Panthers this year, all at home.
Given all that, I think it's reasonable to project Zibanejad to keep ripping, especially given the series hole the Rangers are in.
When Zibanejad has attempted 5+ shots, he's over this line in 77% of games this season. At 6+ attempts, that jumps up to 84%, and at 7+ attempts, his hit-rate at 2.5 is 89%.
I'm willing to jump on this over given what he's been doing of late and how I expect this game to unfold.
My presumed uptick in aggressiveness on the New York side should apply to the defensive end as well, which has me wanting to load up some blocked shots props.
It's hard to imagine why defenseman Adam Fox would suddenly stop trying to jump in front of pucks to help out Igor Shesterkin, and Florida as we know is constantly going to be firing when they have the chance.
Fox finished Game 1 with five blocks, the third straight game he's gone over this line. At these odds I'm willing to bet he stays active in the defensive zone.
