There are a whole bunch of intriguing NHL spots tonight for goals scored, so naturally we're attacking the point market once again in the hopes of hitting on the right players. By all means, consider simply playing these team's totals, or mix and match as you please from the varying games.
I love Carolina to find some goals this evening, and naturally love their talented top-line pairing to get in on the fun. The Hurricanes have averaged 4.1 goals per game on the road over the past month and a half, and Dallas has allowed 3.4 goals at home in the same stretch.
There also appears to be a strong power-play edge favoring the Hurricanes here, as the Stars' penalty kill comes in as the fourth-worst over the past month while Carolina owns the 12th-best PP scoring rate.
Aho has a point in 12 of his last 15 games and two straight against Dallas. Svechnikov has a game under his belt after returning from injury and should be sharper tonight. He has nine points in his last four road games and should get his chances here.
I'm on the over in this Montreal-Anaheim game, but figured I may as well spread the net a bit on a fun combo from each side. A big reason why I like goals in this game is that both teams have some horrendous penalty kills, while both sides also have found some success on the power play of late.
Both Slafkovsky and Carlsson are on their respective team's top lines and top power plays, and both have odds at -110 to get a point. By all means, play them straight, I'm sprinkling on this pairing. Slafkovksy has a point in five straight games and Carlsson has a point in two straight and last time he saw Montreal.
As I've written about before, betting on correlated point plays like these force you to trust guys to step up after they've let you down, as season numbers show us that more often than not, these players are going to get involved in some scoring on a given night.
Here's hoping the given night in question is tonight for this Edmonton duo who scorned us last time we loaded them up. The Oilers are averaging nearly four goals per game on home ice, and they seem set to pile on the shots against a Detroit defense that hasn't been too tight in that regard.
The hope is that volume leads to some Edmonton scoring, and ideally from their top line.
Hyman has 21 points in his past 15 home games and three points in his past two against the Red Wings. Nugent-Hopkins also has 21 points in his last 15 at home and six in his past three against Detroit.
