The NHL seems to be all aesthetic in its news to start the week, with confirmation of the return of the Reverse Retro jerseys and a new Stanley Cup playoff logo revealed Monday.

Sean Shapiro of The Athletic confirmed that the Reverse Retro jerseys are making a return next season. He also clarified that the teams will wear new designs next season, not reusing the jerseys from the 2020-21 season.

The Reverse Retro jerseys were a new style introduced to the NHL as teams created sweaters that took classic designs and inverted the color schemes (like the Montreal Canadiens and Calgary Flames) or used color schemes from different jerseys (like the Los Angeles Kings and Colorado Avalanche).

Some jerseys were met with criticism, and some were met with acclaim. There’s no doubt fans will speculate passionately in the months before the new sweaters are unveiled.

The NHL also revealed its new playoff logo Monday, offering a cleaner, simpler look than in years past. This is the first time the NHL has changed its logo since 2013.
