NHL expert picks: Tony Sartori’s anytime goalscorers best bets for Sunday 4/14

Check out Tony Sartori's NHL expert picks tonight for Sunday, April 14 – his expert anytime goalscorer best bets.

Today's NHL slate is modest with just four games, but I still have two NHL anytime goalscorer picks for the afternoon's action.

Betting on NHL anytime goalscorers is simple enough: If your player scores a goal at any point in the game, your bet is a winner. MLB has its dingers; the NHL has its anytime goalscorers. And with both types of player props, the bets usually come with plus-money odds attached to them, so they're a favorite among all types of sports bettors.

Check out all of the analysis with my favorite anytime goalscorer predictions for tonight's NHL games below.

Avalanche vs. Golden Knights

Sunday, April 14, 3:30 p.m. ET, TNT
Nathan MacKinnon (+105, FanDuel)

Sunday's slate includes a Western Conference tilt between the Vegas Golden Knights and the Colorado Avalanche. We will target the Hart Trophy front-runner to find the back of the net as Nathan MacKinnon looks to put his final stamp on the regular season.

MacKinnon leads Colorado in goals with 51 as he continues to dominate the league, and that success is likely to continue against Vegas. MacKinnon has scored in four of his past six outings against the Knights, which shouldn't be too surprising given how he sets the tempo in every big matchup for the Avs.

Speaking of which, MacKinnon has now scored 17 goals over his past 21 games. On the other hand, the Golden Knights are a good two-way team but still hover around the league average in expected goals against per 60 minutes (xGA/60).

Goaltender Logan Thompson is slated to back up that defense on Sunday. He's now allowed four or more goals in two of his past three starts, going 1-2 over that stretch with a fade-worthy .864 SV% and 4.05 GAA. If he lets in four again on Sunday, then I find it hard to believe that MacKinnon won't be responsible for at least one of them.

Pick: Nathan MacKinnon (+105 at FanDuel)

Hurricanes vs. Blackhawks

Sunday, April 14, 6 p.m. ET, ESPN+
Connor Bedard (+230, FanDuel)

By Tony Sartori

We are going with the present and the future on Sunday as the other goalscorer to back is Chicago forward Connor Bedard. It has been yet another terrible season for the Hawks, but the one bright spot has been the play of 2023's first overall draft pick.

Predictably, Bedard leads the team in goals, assists and points. He will join MacKinnon on the awards stage when he receives the Calder Trophy for most outstanding rookie performance. While it will be difficult to score against the defensively sound Hurricanes, Bedard is the most likely candidate out of anyone on the Blackhawks to get it done.

Bedard only faced Carolina once thus far, but he put on a show as he walked away with a goal and two assists in an impressive display. At +230, it is worth taking a shot on the goal-scoring aspect of that stat line to occur once again on Sunday.

Pick: Connor Bedard (+230 at FanDuel)
