NHL Injuries: Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin departs Monday's game

Harvey Valentine: Anaheim Ducks goaltender Petr Mrazek left last night’s game with an injury. Coach Joel Quenneville doesn’t think it’s serious.

Matthew Fairburn: Buffalo Sabres coach Lindy Ruff said that goaltender Alex Lyon is more in the day-to-day category, and it doesn’t appear to be anything major. Ruff said that they hope defenseman Ryan Kesselring is back on the ice later this week.

Scott Powers: Chicago Blackhawks coach Jeff Blashill said that forward Connor Bedard is expected to return to the lineup before the Olympic break. Blashill didn’t have a timeline for Frank Nazar.

Dallas Stars: The Dallas Stars activate goaltender Casey DeSmith.

George Richards: Florida Panthers coach Paul Maurice said that defenseman Seth Jones is week-to-week and that they hope he’s ready to return before the Olympic break.

Jordan McPherson: Panthers forward Noah Gregor was wearing a contract jersey at practice. At their last practice (Thursday), he was wearing a no-contact jersey.

Jordan McPherson: Panthers forward Jonah Gadjovich was on the ice for practice in a no-contact sweater.

Dan Greenspan: Los Angeles Kings forward Anze Kopitar left last night’s game in the first period with a lower-body injury. Forward Joel Armia left last night’s game in the second period with an upper-body injury.

Dan Greenspan: Minnesota Wild forward Marcus Johansson left last night’s game in the third period after being cut by a high stick.

Stefen Rosner: New York Islanders coach Patrick Roy thinks that forward Bo Horvat (lower-body) will travel with the team on their road trip. He is not 100% sure yet.

Dan Rosen: New York Rangers forward Igor Shesterkin left last night’s game in the first period. He wasn’t able to put much weight on his left and needed help off the ice.

San Jose Sharks PR: Defenseman John Klingberg has been placed on the IR.

Lou Korac: St. Louis Blues forward Nick Bjugstad (upper-body) and defenseman Nathan Walker (upper-body) were on the ice yesterday morning with the team.

Leafs PR: Toronto Maple Leafs forward William Nylander was placed on the IR retroactive to December 27th, and defenseman Marshall Rifai has been recalled.

• Nick Barden: Nylander skated yesterday morning, and being put in the IR was just a roster management move.

Anna Dua: Leafs updates:

• Jake McCabe (lower body) out likely a week, possibly sooner.
• Brandon Carlo had an ankle infection that also impacted his recovery (had foot surgery), could be an option .
• Chris Tanev is being evaluated for possible surgery this week. Out long-term.
• Anthony Stolarz has been skating, still indefinite.
• Dakota Joshua is back in Toronto but also out long-term with a lacerated kidney.

Dave McCarthy: Carlo said that back on November 13th he blocked a shot, which led to an ankle infection. Eight years ago he had a plate put in his ankle, which led to the issues, that required cleanup surgery.

David Alter: Leafs coach Craig Berube said that Tanev’s is considering surgery, and that it’s related to his recent issue and not related to the upper-body stuff that kept him out of the lineup earlier this season.

“Yeah. When someone goes down or is being helped off the ice, you’re hoping that it’s just something that they can go in, get checked out and come back out. But also, when you see situations like that, you get a ittle bit worried when someone can’t put weaight on their leg, like ‘Willy’ in that scenario. So, Your mind goes to, ‘Oh, jeez. Is this something bad? So, thankful that it’s just day-to-day and won’t play , but we’ll see .”
