Thatcher Demko's future with the Vancouver Canucks is up in the air, but now a top insider has revealed he's open to a change.

The Vancouver Canucks had a disappointing 2024/25 campaign, failing to make the Stanley Cup Playoffs after a solid season the year before, but there were a few positives to come from the season.

Perhaps the biggest was the emergence of veteran Kevin Lankinen, who quietly became the No. 1 goaltender on this team after being signed as depth in case of an injury late in the off-season.

After some good performances, he solidified his role with the team, and even when Thatcher Demko returned, it became clear that Lankinen was now the guy moving forward.

Thatcher Demko's Future Uncertain After The Emergence Of Kevin Lankinen

Unsurprisingly, that's led to plenty of chatter over his future, with top NHL Insider David Pagnotta revealing that the veteran goaltender is seemingly open to a change of scenery this summer.

Goalie Thatcher Demko appears open to a change of scenery and is expected to be in play as he enters the final year of his contract. Demko, who has a $5 million cap hit and does not own any no-trade protection, has had health concerns, but he is excited to have a normal summer.

I'm told he is not battling any issues and is already training for next season, and with the Canucks committed to Kevin Lankinen, teams evaluating their goaltending position will be an option for Vancouver.

Included in Pagnotta's report was the revelation that Demko is fully healthy heading into the off-season, and with just one year left on his deal after Lankinen signed a long-term extension, the writing is on the wall.

Now, we'll simply wait and see who is in play for the veteran net minder, with the chance that there's significant interest in the supremely talented player around the league this summer.
