NHL legend Dale Hawerchuk's cancer returns after final treatment in April

Dale Hawerchuk's fight against cancer isn't over.

The NHL legend's son Eric revealed Sunday morning via Twitter that his father's cancer has returned:

The 57-year-old rung the bell in April to signify the completion of his final round of chemotherapy. He was diagnosed with stomach cancer last August.

Hawerchuk, who led the OHL's Barrie Colts from 2010 to '19, had to step down from the organization due to his cancer diagnosis.

Hawerchuk was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2001 after a wildly successful career with the Winnipeg Jets and Buffalo Sabres. He notched 1,409 points in 1,188 NHL games.
