The NHL announced a scoring correction following the Toronto Maple Leafs’ 4–3 overtime win against the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday night at Scotiabank Arena.
The update was posted by the NHL's Public Relations account on X shortly after the game ended.
“OFFICIAL SCORING CHANGE: Game 132 @BuffaloSabres at @MapleLeafs. Goal at 7:06 of the third period now reads Tage Thompson from Jason Zucker and Rasmus Dahlin.”
The correction updates the assists on Thompson’s second goal of the night, officially crediting both Zucker and Dahlin on the play. The power-play goal gave Buffalo a 3–2 lead early in the third before Toronto came back to tie and win in overtime.

Thompson’s finish came after Dahlin’s shot from the point was blocked, leaving a loose puck in the slot. The Sabres captain retrieved the rebound and spun a quick shot past goaltender Cayden Primeau.
The update adds Zucker as the secondary assist, acknowledging his touch in the sequence leading to the play. Following the review, Zucker has two assists on the season, while Dahlin has seven to his name.
Thompson’s two-goal performance wasn’t enough to hold off the Maple Leafs, who snapped a three-game skid on John Tavares’ overtime winner. The Toronto captain scored his 499th career goal, finishing a feed from Matthew Knies 1:28 into the extra frame.
“There are pieces to it,” Tavares said when asked about how he keeps up his production after turning 35 last September. “I think the biggest thing is the feeling I still have from when I was a kid — the love and passion that feed into the grind every day to keep working on things, push myself, and find ways to continue getting better.
“The longer you play, the more wisdom you gain, and I’m using that to my advantage.”
Nicholas Robertson, Matias Maccelli, and Dakota Joshua also scored for Toronto, while Primeau made 23 saves in his first win of the season. Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen stopped 18 shots in his season debut for Buffalo.
The Leafs improved to 4–4–1 despite missing forward William Nylander, who was sidelined with an injury. The Sabres' loss dropped Buffalo to 4–4–1 on the season.
