The Montreal Canadiens sign Alexandre Texier

TSN: The Montreal Canadiens signed forward Alexandre Texier to a one-year, $1 million contract.

The Buffalo Sabres are to terminate Alexandar Georgiev’s contract 

Bill Hoope of the Buffalo Hockey Beat: The Buffalo Sabres have placed goaltender Alexandar Georgiev on waivers for the purpose of terminating his contract. Georgiev will be heading back to the KHL and signing with Spartak Moscow. The Sabres had signed Georgiev on September 11th to a one-year, $825,000 deal.

Georgiev has been with Rochester (AHL) and has only appeared in two games (0-2-0 with a 3.57 GAA).

Mikko Rantanen suspended for one game

NHL Injury Notes

Max Miller: Boston Bruins forward Elias Lindholm returned to the lineup after missing the past 10 games with a lower-body injury. The Bruins placed defenseman Charlie McAvoy on the IR.

Heather Engel: Buffalo Sabres forward Zach Benson returned to the lineup after missing the past 10 games with a lower-body injury.

Heather Engel: Carolina Hurricanes forward Jordan Staal missed yesterday’s game with an illness.

Bruce Miles: Chicago Blackhawks forward Jason Dickinson returned to the lineup last night after missing the past 10 games with an upper-body injury.

Darrin Bauming: Minnesota Wild forward Nico Sturm made his season debut. He had suffered a back injury during training camp.

Stefen Rosner: New York Islanders defenseman Alexander Romanov will be out for five to six months after having shoulder surgery. He was boarded by Dallas Stars forward Mikko Rantanen last week.

Darrin Bauming : Winnipeg Jets defenseman Neal Pionk left last night’s game in the second period with a lower-body injury. Jets coach Scott Arniel said he’ll be evaluated today and is listed as day-to-day.
