We open up NHL predictions with our featured game between the Winnipeg Jets and the Washington Capitals. Thomas Milic is projected to make his NHL debut, but always check social media before locking in a daily fantasy starter. Milic will likely get the call due to the injury to Vezina Trophy winner Connor Hellebuyck. The Jets are 4-6 in the last 10 games and need to tread water until Hellebuyck’s return. Mark Scheifele leads the team in assists (17) and points (28) so far for the Jets.
Logan Thompson is expected to get the start for the Capitals, who are 5-4-1 in the last 10 games. However, Washington has gotten victories in four of its last five games. The Caps are sixth in goals scored (3.30) and goals allowed (2.65). Tom Wilson is first on the club in goals (12) and points (23) heading into the American Thanksgiving holiday.
Asking a young goalie to deal with a high-flying team like the Capitals is a tall order. Washington should pick up the win.
Prediction: Capitals win 4-2.
