The NHL and the NHLPA are working hard on trying to determine when next season will start. Meanwhile, teams are looking over their rosters and remaining cap space to see what else they can do to improve.
Matt DeFranks of the Dallas Morning News believes that Corey Perry could return to the Stars. The problem? Well if he wants to it will have to be a pay cut without all that bonus money. Bonus filled contracts are what many 35 and over players seek.
Perry could very well work something out with Dallas, but there has been interest by the Ottawa Senators who have cap space. The problem for Perry is there likely won’t be a post season in his future.
On 'That's Hockey', TSN's Frank Seravalli stated that no one has had a better offseason than the Ottawa Senators. He also reports that after signing Galchenyuk, the Sens might not be done. Kicking tires on a few others including Corey Perry — where there's been mutual interest.

Tyler Toffoli wanted to stay in Vancouver. It sure looked like the interest was mutual as well. How did the two sides not work something out? Iain MacIntyre of Sportsnet explained the issue.
The biggest hole in the roster was created by the free-agent departure of first-line winger Tyler Toffoli, who left for Montreal. Toffoli’s exit was essentially a byproduct of general manager Jim Benning trading for Nate Schmidt — as an upgrade over the departed Tanev — along with his $5.95 million cap hit from the Vegas Golden Knights.

Since we are talking about the Vancouver Canucks, let’s discuss head coach Travis Green and his expiring contract. Will the two sides come to an extension? Iain MacIntyre also touched on this.
“Travis is a good fit for our group, our team,” Benning said. “I think he’s gotten better and better as a coach every year. He has real good communication skills with our players to get the best out of them. Our intention is to re-sign Travis. But he has another year left on his contract and … we’re kind of in a holding pattern to try to see what the landscape looks like as we get closer to starting up again. I’ve had those conversations with Travis. He’s aware of that.”
