Frank Seravalli: The buyout window is getting close to closing. The Carolina Hurricanes are not expected to buy out forward Jesperi Kotkaniemi, which would be 1/3 of his deal.
He was a healthy scratch for all of their playoff games. With the salary cap rising, they’re willing to play the long game.
Frank Seravalli: The Hurricanes are actively looking to trade Kotkaniemi. His cap hit is $4.8 million, which will be the new norm for third-line centers. Since there is such a lack of centers available, he might have some trade value.
