Heading into this game, the Jets were looking to stay undefeated to begin the year. However, they ultimately lost to a Maple Leafs team that was hungry to finally go out and get themselves a win. Having said that, it proved to be an interesting night for Connor who thought he had a hat trick with his goal late in the third period.
However, in an act of pure cruelty, the NHL decided to take the goal away from Connor. Below, you can see that they gave an explanation of their change.
'Winnipeg's goal at 16:13 of the third period now reads Gabriel Vilardi from Kyle Connor and Nikolaj Ehlers.'
Upon watching the replay, it feels pretty obvious that the goal should belong to Connor. However, the league did not care. Instead, they took the hat trick away from the Jets veteran.
Fans were not happy with this and they let their feelings be known on social media. Below, you can see all of the angry reactions that were sent to the league thanks to the latest move.
If there is one thing for sure here, it is that Connor is a liked player. When you are liked, people are going to ride for you, and that is exactly what we are seeing right now. Only time will tell whether or not the NHL and goes back to fix it all over again.
