Yesterday was a solid start to the week here, and we'll look to carry that momentum over into what is quite a good-looking set of games on the ice.
We've done our best to limit the looks, but there is certainly a lot of value out there on the board tonight.
Seattle just loves to score on the road; it's their favorite hobby. They lead the NHL in goals per game on the road with 4.3, and even with Tampa not the best target for goals, I like the Kraken to chip in a few here.
Tampa will likely do the heavy lifting for us here on this alt-total. They average 3.9 per game at home and Seattle allows 3.3 on average when the visitor. The Lightning should also be able to capitalize on Seattle's struggling PK.
We'll pair that game with Columbus and Florida, and don't be surprised if Florida hits this by themselves. The last four meetings between these two teams have all seen eight or more goals, so I think it's pretty reasonable for us to ask for just six here. The Panthers should be able to pummel the Blue Jackets, it almost seems mean to drop the numbers (Columbus allowing 38.3 shots/game and 4.0 goals on the road).
I am confident the Blue Jackets can help out the cause here, especially with Sergei Bobrovsky in net.
We need a piece of Toronto tonight against Anaheim, and there's no shortage of options. Ultimately, I'm rolling with William Nylander. He's gone over 3.5 shots in five straight games and both meetings with the Ducks a season ago.
He's averaging 8.2 attempts per game over his last five and quite involved on the power play, where Toronto should find themselves multiple times this evening.
It's as simple as that for me, following the volume in an advantageous matchup.
Both Ovi and Makar seem to be in great spots for shots. Washington will see Chicago, one of the most generous teams to shots. On the year, the Blackhawks have also been heavily penalized, though that is tightening up just a tad over the past ten games.
Ovechkin has gone for 5+ shots in six of his last eight games and has 19 SOG in his last three against Chicago. We should be good for four shots tonight with even just a handful of power plays.
Meanwhile, Cale Makar has turned it on big time in light of the injuries suffered in Colorado. He's piled up 17 SOG in his last three games, 14 of which have come over the past two.
The Flyers are a solid shot target for defensemen, and Makar had five SOG in both meetings with them last season.
Boston seems like a solid option for shots this evening, just as they are every time they hit the ice. Hall has 4+ shots in four straight games and averaged 5.7 shots/game in three meetings with the Islanders last season.
He makes for a solid ladder candidate today, but it's hard to ignore these reasonable odds for simply three shots on net.
Roman Josi got the bump up to 4.5 shots for tonight and that's fine by me. He'll be facing an Edmonton team that we love to target, especially for power-play shooters and defensemen, as they've been particularly vulnerable in those areas.
We can emphatically check off those boxes for Josi. While the Nashville defensemen hasn't had recent success against the Oilers at this number, he's logged 5+ shots in eight of his last ten games and five straight at home.
Timo should see his chances in the late game against an Arizona team handing out 4.6 power-play chances per game over the past 10 and allowing 3.7 goals per game on the road.
Meier paces the Sharks in power-play usage and has a goal in two straight games. He's enjoyed seeing the Coyotes the past few seasons, notching a goal in four of his last five against them.
