NHL Tuesday props: Hockey is the main event tonight

NHL takes center stage today in the sports world with no NBA on. Welcome to the world of hockey props, let's have ourselves a strong Tuesday on the ice.

Tage Thompson over 3.5 SOG (+105 DK)

There's no better place to start than with a high-profile shooter facing Arizona, and thanks to Tage Thompson going under in three straight, we get the gift of plus-money for his shots tonight.

Don't be scared off by the misses, Buffalo had some tougher opponents in Pittsburgh, Carolina and Tampa Bay who were able to mitigate the impact of Thompson a bit on the ice. That will not be the case tonight against an Arizona team allowing the second-most shots per game.

The Coyotes allow the most shots per game to centers, setting up Thompson for a big evening. He's averaging 7.6 attempts per game in his last 10 and should be firing tonight back at home. Did we mention the power-play opportunities likely coming the Sabres' way? Thompson leads Buffalo in PP shots this season.

We'll be taking him to score as well as hit his shots.

.5u: Thompson goal (+138 FD)

Nikita Kucherov over 3.5 SOG (+100 DK)

Kucherov is absolutely rolling and it's mildly shocking to see his odds still at even money. Kucherov has gone over 3.5 shots in four straight games, averaging 7.5 shot attempts per game.

He and the Lightning will see an Edmonton team allowing the sixth-most shots per game on the year, who will also be skating on a back-to-back after a 5-4 loss to Washington yesterday.

In two games against the Oilers last season, Kucherov went over 3.5 each time and averaged 5.5 SOG. He's scored in six straight games. This is a wave we need to continue riding.

.5u: Kucherov goal (+140 CZR)

Cole Caufield over 3.5 SOG (+100 DK)

It's nice to see Cole Caufield back on the road. In his last five at home, he's averaged 4.8 attempts per game, but when he's skating as the visitor, that number climbs up to 6.6.

Caufield is over 3.5 in four of his last five games and will see a Red Wings team allowing nearly 34 shots per game. He was in Detroit just a few weeks ago and finished with four SOG on seven attempts.

He also has a goal in five of his last nine games, and given the volume he's always a good bet to deliver.

.5u: Caufield goal (+170 DK)

Pierre-Luc Dubois over 2.5 SOG (-133 CZR)

We head to a slightly juiced prop in Pierre-Luc Dubois, but we back him for good reason. Dallas is allowing the most power-play opportunities per game this season at 4.33, and Dubois tops the Jets in PP shots with 14.

He's gone over 2.5 in seven of his last eight games and three of his last five against the Stars. He's gone over in four straight home games and given the man-up advantages Winnipeg is likely to grab this evening, I like Dubois' shots to continue.

Dallas also allows the ninth-most shots to centers this season. Dubois has a goal in two straight games.

.5u: Dubois goal (+190 DK)

.5u: Andre Burakovsky over 2.5 SOG (+120 DK)

I'll bump Andre Burakovsky down to a half-unit wager simply because he hasn't shown consistency for long enough, but I'm seeing an uptick that I think can be sustained tonight and moving forward.

Burakovsky and the Kraken host Nashville tonight. The Predators are allowing 33.3 shots per game and the seventh-most power play opportunities per game at 3.83.

Burakovsky is tied with the team lead in PP shots and he's finished with 4 SOG in two of his last three games. He has a very solid base of two SOG in nine straight games, and the attempts are there, averaging 5.6 in his last five games.

The Predators allow the third-most shots per game to LWs, where Burakovsky resides. He hasn't scored in six straight games, but the goals should follow this volume soon, and we get a great price to take a stab.

.5u: Burakovsky goal (+305 CZR)

Claude Giroux & Brayden Point 1+ point each (+128 DK)

Ottawa and Tampa Bay are two of my favorites to look for goals, so we naturally load up a points parlay off some of the two most consistent producers lately.

Giroux and the Senators host Vancouver, a team allowing the fourth-most goals per game at 4.0. Giroux has six points in his last five games and 10 in his past 10. Against the Canucks last year, he piled up three points.

Point will face the aforementioned Oilers, who are allowing 3.5 goals per game and plenty of power-play chances. The Lightning should be able to tack on some scores given Edmonton is on a back-to-back, and Point has seven points in his last four games. Point has a power-play point in two straight games, and the Oilers own the fifth-worst penalty killing unit. This could come on the PP, which gives us an extra layer of confidence that one is coming.

Plenty to like tonight in the NHL. Enjoy the action and let's cash some bets!
