NHL veteran Jaromir Jagr endorses himself during first day of free agency

Jaromir Jagr hasn't taken the ice during an NHL game since he last suited up for the Calgary Flames during the 2017-18 season. But he reminded the league that he still hasn't officially retired when he took to social media on the opening day of NHL free agency to promote his skill set.

"I'm also free agent, once again," the 50-year-old veteran said. "Slow, but strong and good hands. Can bring experience and [would] like to only play home games. Call me anytime."

Jagr also took the opportunity to put in a plug for the hockey team he owns in the Czech league, saying he's "looking to sign a defenseman. No jokes."

After playing in 22 games for the Flames, Jagr went to play for Rytiri Kladno in Extraliga in the Czech Republic, a team he played for prior to being drafted. He continues to play for the team, while also owning it.

The fifth overall pick in the 1990 NHL Draft, Jagr played 24 seasons and recorded 1,921 points in 1,733 career games. He remains second on the NHL's all-time points list behind Wayne Gretzky, who ended his career with 2,857 points. The only active player close to that mark is Joe Thornton, who sits in 12th place on that list with 1,539 points.
