The ongoing World Juniors Championship on Tuesday saw Team Canada suffer a heartbreaking loss to Team Czechia. A last-minute upset saw Czechia pull off an incredible 3-2 victory that eliminated the Canadians from the tournament. Following this loss, Boston Bruins‘ Jakub Lauko savagely trolled them.
The ice hockey center player was pleased to see his nation triumph against a formidable opponent. The NHLer was unable to hold his excitement for too long and shared a three-word message.
The matchup between these two nations was a rematch of last year’s gold medal showdown. Canada prevailed then, so their opponents were more than determined to make things right.
They started off strong and raced to a two-goal lead. They though were unable to maintain it as Team Canada came back to make it 2-2. With the game entering its final minute, the match seemed to heading to overtime. However, the pendulum swung in the favor of Czechia as Jakub Stancl scored his second goal of the match with just 11 seconds left in the game through a massive deflection off Canadian defenceman Oliver Bonk ‘s stick.

As the crowd in the arena felt silent, the Czechia fans jumped up in joy. Lauko would take to his X account and tease Team Canada for their loss.
Not today Canada. Jakub Lauko on Team Canada losing to Team Czechia.
not today canada

It is safe to say that Jakub Lauko definitely enjoyed the victory of Team Czechia over Team Canada. He would take to his social media account to take a dig at them.
His three-word message was similar to what his teammate David Pastrnak once shared regarding Justin Bieber. The forward had trolled the renowned music artist after the Bruins defeated the Maple Leafs in Game 7 during the 2020 Stanley Cup. He had prayed that for a better performance from the Maple Leafs forward. As Pastrnak had the last laugh he tweeted out “Not today @justinbieber #BostonStrong“.
Fans have now drawn a comparison between his tweet with the one Lauko used. While some joined in the fun, some were unhappy with the player for using these words. Check out some reactions from the fan following this message from Lauko on X below:

Not today ? We say that every time you’re on the ice and don’t score.. Not today

While fans are now debating whether Lauko’s actions were right or wrong, it is likely that his next meeting with a Canada-based team will see him receive some kind of hostile reception from the crowd. His performances this season have seen him contribute only three points through three assists. Lauko would be hoping for a massive improvement in this department as the Bruins aim for a deep Stanley Cup run this season.
