Edmonton Oilers superstar Connor McDavid’s brilliance has been on full display this postseason, with the center leading the playoff field in total points and still in contention for his first Stanley Cup.
The praise McDavid received leading up to the Oilers' must-win Game 6 against the Florida Panthers, however, cannot have been any higher.
Jaromir Jagr, the second-highest point scorer in NHL history, spoke with Sportsnet’s Luke Fox on Monday and reflected on McDavid’s otherworldly ability in a rather unique way.
"I respect the game he plays. It’s fun to watch," Jagr said. "The way he plays, he sometimes makes very good players look silly. And it’s special. I always admire people who are greater than the rest of ‘em."
"I believe in God. So, I can see the God in him."

Nicknamed “McJesus” by fans, the 27-year-old carries the weight of the whole Oilers nation on his shoulders and still needs to win the Cup for Edmonton.
Jagr said McDavid’s dominance, with or without a championship, reminds him of historic icons from other sports and hockey eras.
"Some higher energy. Something. You just gotta have something extra to be dominating on that level," Jagr said. "Like, when you look at basketball, you get Jordan. You got to be different. And to be that different, it’s special. That’s the way I see it. I can appreciate the greatness of the people. Gretzky was different. Mario Lemieux was different."
McDavid, 10 years into his career, has already collected three Hart Trophies and five Art Ross titles.
He is tied with teammate Leon Draisaitl this postseason with 33 points through 21 games, and enters Tuesday’s Game 6 against the Panthers facing elimination and chasing his first Stanley Cup.
The potentially finals-ending Game 6 will take place in Sunrise on Tuesday night, with puck drop at 8 p.m. ET and the Panthers facing the first of two chances at winning back-to-back titles.
