The Edmonton Oilers took down the Vegas Golden Knights in Game 1 of their postseason series. Once again, the Oilers used a strong comeback to grab the win, marking their fifth straight come-from-behind victory of the postseason.
It was a complete team effort for the Oilers, and they were able to snatch home-ice advantage away from Vegas. But heading into Game 2, the Oilers understand that they will need a different type of intensity.
The Golden Knights don't want to head on the road down 0-2, so they will bring full attention to this matchup. Edmonton is aware of this, and the team has been preparing for the contest.
Oilers star Connor McDavid made a shocking admission regarding the upcoming game, saying that his team is in a new spot.
“It’s kind of new for us. We don’t usually find ourselves in this spot. Big one Thursday, really really big. I expect Vegas to raise their level. We need to match that if not be more desperate. It would be huge to come away with two [wins]. Yeah, big one Thursday.”
McDavid helped the Oilers reach the Stanley Cup Final a year ago, so he understands what it takes to win. But Edmonton also knows that this series is far from over, so they will need major focus heading into this second game.
If Edmonton can come away with another road win, they will put themselves in a great spot to win the series. However, taking both games on the road to open a series is tough, and the odds seem to be stacked against the Oilers.
