Oilers' Connor McDavid Offers Hilarious Outlook on Crucial Game 1 Moment

The Edmonton Oilers grabbed a massive win to open the 2025 Stanley Cup Final against the Florida Panthers. The Oilers won the game in overtime after completing an epic comeback.

Edmonton was down 3-1 at one point during the contest, but they never gave up and stormed back for the win. But on the game-tying goal, Oilers star Connor McDavid made a pass that was a little errant.

Luckily for him, things worked out, and the Oilers were able to tie the game. But McDavid was asked about the moment during a press conference before Game 2.

McDavid refused to answer who the pass was to, but rather provided a hilarious response on the matter.

"I won't say, I won't say. All that matters is that it ended up where it needed to be.", McDavid joked.

McDavid is just happy that Edmonton was able to get the win in Game 1. The team now sits just three wins away from claiming the Stanley Cup, and he is a big reason for that fact.

But the continued pairing of McDavid and co-star Leon Draisaitl has the Oilers buzzing. Even the Panthers understand this, and Florida knows how dangerous they can be.

“I think when they play together, they’re obviously very creative players, and they make everyone around them better,” said Panthers defenseman Seth Jones, who played more against McDavid (13:55) and Draisaitl (12:28) than anyone else. “They like to look for each other. Especially when they play together, little give-and-gos, things like that, and then they’re dangerous off the rush too.

Game 2 between the two sides is scheduled to kick off at 8 p.m. on Friday night.
