Once again it appears the Edmonton Oilers have weathered the injury storm. With their third match up of the season against the Vancouver Canucks pending tonight, we've received the positive news that early season standout goaltender Devon Levi will return from his stint on injured reserve. Adding to that is Zach Hyman's second return from injury as well.

Levi had an indisclosed issue that kept him out for the last seven games. He'd been playing great hockey in the Oilers net, and the opportunity to rematch against the Canucks, against whom he let in seven goals in his first start of the season, is as good a game as any.

Hyman's luck needs to change

Hyman took a big hit against the Detroit Red Wings that put him out for the second time in 2026-27 with a sore neck. We've seen Hyman return from a number of wounds over the past couple seasons and he generally doesn't miss a step. he'll be back on the first power play, and I'd be surprised if he doesn't get his name on the scoresheet.

Hopefully these returns precede a healthy run of games for both players, and for the OIlers at large. They've lost more than 75 man games to injury already, and Hyman in particular needs a healthy run, if for no other reason than to show that his body can still hold up to a National Hockey League season.

The Oilers will hope to stop a two game losing streak. Puck drop is an absurd 9PM in Edmonton, with the Oilers hosting the Canucks at Rogers Place. Grab a late afternoon coffee if you can.
