Season review

After his season with the London Knights (OHL) finished, Brzustewicz signed his three-year entry-level contract — starting in the 2026-27 season — and a professional tryout agreement (PTO) to finish the season with the Reign.

Brzustewicz, 19, made his pro debut on April 7th against the Colorado Eagles, a game where the Reign pulled out a 2-1 overtime victory. In that game, the young defenseman recorded two penalties.

As a 19-year-old, mistakes were going to be made, but being paired with veteran defenseman Joe Hicketts proved to be valuable for Brzustewicz. Each game, he improved, and you could see the potential. Brzustewicz can move the puck up the ice and isn’t shy of getting involved in the play offensively while playing a strong two-way game.

With the new CBA (collective bargaining agreement), there is a new rule in place that allows each team to place one 19-year-old CHL prospect in the AHL; Brzustewicz is eligible to play in Ontario under that new rule for the 2026-27 season. We’ll see what the organization has planned for his development next season.
