The Ontario Reign played two games during the week and went 1-1-0-0.

Ontario’s first game of the week came against the Henderson Silver Knights in a Black Friday showdown. Henderson dominated possession and the pace of play, but Ontario took a 2-0 lead with two power-play goals. The lead didn’t last long as Hnederson broke through with two goals in less than four minutes to tie the game.

Henderson took the lead with 5:11 left in regulation, but two late goals, 58 seconds apart, propelled the Reign to victory. In a game that wasn’t their best, they stole a big two points.

Ontario wrapped up the week with an out-of-division matchup against the AHL’s Western Conference runner-up from last year, the Texas Stars. Ontario’s mistakes proved costly in this matchup as Texas pounced on three Reign miscues, leading to a 4-1 victory for the Stars.

With the recap of the week over, let’s see who made this week’s three stars for the Reign!

Third star

Angus Booth

Stat line: Two games played, one goal, zero assists, one point, +1 rating, four shots on goal

Angus Booth has played seven games since returning from injury and scored his first goal of the season to tie the game at three late in the third period in Ontario’s 4-3 victory over Henderson.

It’s been a rough start for the second-year pro, dealing with an injury that put him on the mend for about a month. Now, healthier than he was to start, Booth is starting to look like the player we saw in his rookie year as a steady, confident defenseman.

Second star

Pheonix Copley

Stat line: Two games played, 1-1-0-0 record, 56 saves on 62 shots faced, .903 save percentage

Pheonix Copley started both games for the Reign and went 1-1-0-0. Copley had his best performance of the season in Ontario’s 4-3 victory over Henderson, stopping 35 of 38 shots. Copley also had a bit of luck in that game as Henderson hit the post five times. The Reign were under siege the moment the puck dropped, and if it weren’t for Copley, the Reign wouldn’t have had a chance to win that game.

First star

Cole Guttman

Stat line: Two games played, two goals, one assist, three points, -1 rating, six shots on goal

Cole Guttman is this week’s first star, leading the Reign in goals (2) and points (3) in the two games played. Guttman was also tied with Glenn Gawdin for the most shots on goal during the week with six.

The Northridge native and former Jr. King is starting to see results in offensive output after playing well to start the year, but nothing to show for it. Guttman has eight points in his last eight games (4 G, 4 A) and a goal in three straight games.
