The Ontario Reign played three games during the week against the Texas Stars and Colorado Eagles (twice), and went 2-1-0-0.

The Reign started the week off on Tuesday with a 6-3 victory over the Stars. Ontario had four different goal scorers and 12 players recording at least one point. The Reign then traveled to Colorado for a two-game series over the weekend and came home with a split.

Ontario won Friday’s game by a score of 3-2, but dropped Saturday’s game, 6-1. With the weekend split, the Reign enter this week in a tie for third place with the Calgary Wranglers, one point behind the San Jose Barracuda for second, and four points behind the Eagles for first.

The Reign Train will conclude their three-game road trip with a stop in Bakersfield on Wednesday, December 17th, against the Condors at 6:30 PM PST.

Now that the recap of the week is out of the way, let’s see who made this week’s three stars for the Reign!

Third star

Nikita Alexandrov

Stat line: Three games, two goals, zero assists, two points, -2 rating, nine shots on goal

Nikita Alexandrov played in all three games for the Reign and scored twice in their 6-3 victory over the Texas Stars to start the week. Although Alexandrov didn’t record a point in Colorado, he has looked comfortable on the top line, especially with Cole Guttman.

Second star

Pheonix Copley

Stat line: Two games played, 2-0-0-0 record, 45 saves on 50 shots, .900 save percentage

Pheonix Copley is the second star of the week, winning both of his games by posting an even .900 save percentage. Copley’s best start of the week came in Ontario’s 3-2 win over the Colorado Eagles, stopping 27 of 29 shots in the process.

First star

Glenn Gawdin

Stat line: Three games played, three goals, one assist, four points, +1 rating, 11 shots on goal

Glenn Gawdin recorded at least one point in every game for the Reign this week. Gawdin scored all three of his goals in Loveland, Colorado, against the Eagles, including scoring a pair on a four-minute power play 23 seconds apart in the first meeting of the two-game series. Those two goals were Gawdin’s first goal since he scored twice in Ontario’s 4-3 overtime victory over the San Diego Gulls on November 8th.
