Alex Ovechkin is an exceptional goal-scorer.
He is chasing Wayne Gretzky’s great record, and he doesn’t have many goals left to achieve it.
The Capitals’ captain has 886 goals (!) on the counter and he only has nine left to score before breaking the record.
But Ovi – who is an exceptional athlete – is also pursuing another record in the NHL… And we don’t often talk about it (or almost never).
What is it about?
The Russian is also approaching the absolute record for the number of hits distributed in the history of the NHL.
Note that the statistic is calculated since the beginning of the 2005-2006 season.
Alex Ovechkin needs like 300 more hits to become the NHL’s all time hits leader and nobody is talking about it.
1st in the NHL goals and hits in NHL history. What a psychotic maniac.
How his body is holding up is beyond me I typically don’t think about mens bodies too much…

At the time of writing, Ovechkin has a total of 3,721 hits since the beginning of his career.
He is 308 hits away from Cal Clutterbuck and the first place in the league’s history:
Alex Ovechkin is really a beast of nature.
Imagine! He scores goals, he hits the opponent… And he is about to be the best in history in these two categories of the game.
It’s special.
Perhaps the record for the number of hits will be broken at some point, but it would be surprising to see the one who breaks the record also take the one for the number of career goals in the National League.
Usually, the best shooters in the National League are not necessarily super physical… and that’s why Alex Ovechkin’s career is also grandiose.
He will really deserve his induction into the Hockey Hall of Fame.

– Too bad.
Finally, Samuel Piette will not be back for the match against DC United.
And Prince Owusu should not start the match this weekend.#CFMTL pic.twitter.com/374md1d5Z0
