As the Florida Panthers get ready for Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final against the Edmonton Oilers, the team could be getting back some skaters. Forwards Eetu Luostarinen, Anton Lundell, and A.J. Greer did not practice with the team on Saturday, but head coach Paul Maurice isn't worried.
"I think the only question mark is Greer," Maurice said. "We will list him as day to day. The other guys are fine. They'll be back on the ice tomorrow when we do a little bit of an optional."
This would be massive for the Panthers, who have been dealing with some injuries to the depth of the roster. Luostarinen and Greer were each injured in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Final against the Carolina Hurricanes.
Florida battled some depth issues down the stretch of the series with Carolina, but could be getting back the pieces for this championship match. The Panthers are looking to repeat as champions and are hoping that they can have a similar result to last year.
"I will say, we will have more energy for this series than any of the three prior," Maurice said. "I am sure that's true for Edmonton as well. The regular season was more of a grind for us than either of the two previous. Then, in each round, there is a bigger build to excitement just because there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
The Stanley Cup Final between the two teams is set to begin on Wednesday, June 4, at 8 p.m. ET.
