Paul “Biz Nasty” Bissonnette drew some attention on social media Wednesday after sharing his funny Evgeni Malkin story.

Bissonnette is one of the analysts for Turner Sports’ NHL coverage. He was talking during an intermission report for the Montreal Canadiens-Vancouver Canucks game on TNT and brought up his Malkin story.

Bissonnette played in the NHL from 2009-2014. He was a fourth-round pick by the Penguins in 2004 and made his NHL debut with them in the 2008-2009 season. The Pens won the Stanley Cup that season after losing in the Final the season before.

According to Biz Nasty, he was riding an exercise bike next to Malkin when the Penguins star was presented with an envelope. The envelope contained Malkin’s postseason bonus check for the season before, apparently.

Bissonnette tells the story very well, including a good use of Malkin’s accent. Beware of the s-bomb he drops.

“It was a $900,000 check from his playoff bonus the year before. I nearly s— a brick!” Bissonnette said. “I couldn’t believe it. I never had seen a check that big in my life!”

That is a huge check.

Bissonnette says he was sent down to the minors a few days later, so that was his hello and goodbye moment in the NHL.

Bissonnette ended up earning around $5 million during his NHL career. He has gone on to enjoy a successful post-retirement career in the media. As you can see, he’s quite a storyteller.
