The Florida Panthers are battling injury in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and ahead of a potential series clincher in Game 4, they've announced three key absences.
While the Florida Panthers are up 3-0 in the Eastern Conference Finals and just one win away from a third straight Stanley Cup Finals appearance, they are battling some key injuries.
The biggest of all is Sam Reinhart, who missed Game 3 after taking a blindside hit from Sebastian Aho in Game 2, with many worried that his could be a prolonged absence.
On top of that, the team have seen key pieces like Niko Mikkola and AJ Greer go down as well, and ahead of a potential series clinching Game 4 in Florida, Head Coach Paul Maurice has announced that all three will be absent from the lineup.
While this is a tough blow, the Panthers have proven to have some of the best depth in the entire NHL, and after missing Reinhart in Game 3, it didn't slow them down as they would roll through the Hurricanes once again to take a 3-0 series lead.
Nothing is taken for granted in the NHL, but with the 3-0 lead, the Panthers are much more comfortable in allowing players to sit out a game or two to get healthy, and with the way their stars have played, confidence remains high no matter who is in the lineup.
If the Panthers were to lose Game 4, it's more likely than not that we see at least two of these names back in for Game 5 back in Carolina, but if they can pick up the victory, they'll be blessed to get significant rest ahead of a matchup with either the Dallas Stars or a rematch with the Edmonton Oilers in the Stanley Cup Finals.
