As the Pittsburgh Penguins get ready for a new NHL season, the team has been dealing with all sorts of trade rumors. Pittsburgh wants to get younger across the roster, but the team still has plenty of veterans.

One of those is longtime star Sidney Crosby, who has been involved in multiple trade rumors all summer. But the idea of trading someone like Crosby is much more difficult than it seems due to his legacy with the franchise.

Crosby is still a very good player, and he is coming off a strong season with Pittsburgh. The veteran scored 33 goals and had 58 assists over 80 games played in the regular season.

Sidney Crosby on the Move?

According to NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, Crosby has some people around him pressuring him to ask for a trade. With the Penguins not going anywhere, Crosby's group wants him to get back to a place of winning.

Crosby has pushed back against trade rumors, but they could always come out again. If the Penguins were to start slow once again, the idea of trading the franchise icon could get louder.

Pittsburgh would love to keep Crosby in town for his entire NHL career, but the star also wants to win before he retires. The Penguins want to do what is best for Crosby, but the front office also has to think about the long-term future of the organization.

Crosby has a lot of power in this entire situation, and his thoughts on the matter can dictate it all. For now, it seems that Crosby will be staying with the Penguins for the year, but this could change very quickly.
