According to a team press release, the 40-year-old Fleury will suit up for parts of the team’s exhibition game against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Sept. 27.
Fleury spent the 2024-25 campaign with the Minnesota Wild, going 14-9-1 with an .899 save percentage (SV%) and 2.93 goals against average (GAA) in 26 appearances.
“The entire Penguins organization is honored to welcome Marc-Andre Fleury back to the ice in Pittsburgh,” said Penguins’ President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Kyle Dubas. “This past year everyone witnessed how beloved and respected Marc is in the game of hockey, but the adoration goes beyond his accolades and career. Marc means so much to our team, our fans and the City of Pittsburgh because of the person he is and the example he set.
Fleury was taken No. 1 overall by the Penguins in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft and spent the first 13 seasons of his career with the club. In 691 regular-season games with Pittsburgh, the Sorel, Que., native went 375-216-68 with a .912 SV% and 2.58 GAA.

“The Penguins feel he and his family are most-deserving of this opportunity to celebrate this full-circle moment back where it all started in front of the black and gold faithful,” Dubas said.
Through 21 NHL seasons, Fleury posted a 575-339-97 record with a .912 SV% and 2.60 GAA through 1,051 career regular-season games with the Penguins, Wild, Vegas Golden Knights and Chicago Blackhawks.
