Philadelphia Flyers Trade Ivan Fedotov to Columbus Blue Jackets

The Philadelphia Flyers today traded 6’7″ goalie Ivan Fedotov to the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for a 2026 sixth-round draft pick. Fedotov carries a $3.275 million cap hit but is owed only $775,000 in actual salary this season. The trade now leaves the Flyers with Samuel Ersson and Dan Vladar as their goalies. It also now gives the Blue Jackets the option of Jet Greaves, Elvis Merzlikins, or Fedotov in net. Last season, Fedotov appeared in 26 games, going 6-13-4 with a .880 save percentage and a 3.15 goals-against average. Columbus, wanting another goalie, went out and got a cheap option, giving them flexibility in the 2025-26 season. This also could open the door for the Flyers to re-sign goalie Carter Hart when he becomes eligible to sign on October 15th. If re-signed, he can’t return to play until December 1st.
