Philip Tomasino signs one-year contract with Penguins

Tomasino was acquired by the Penguins in a trade with the Nashville Predators last season, and in 61 regular-season games, scored 11 goals and 13 assists for 24 points. In 209 career NHL games, Tomasino now has 34 goals and 60 assists for 94 points with the Predators and Penguins.

Taken by Nashville in the first round of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, Tomasino had 36 goals and 46 assists for 82 points in 89 career AHL regular-season games with the Milwaukee Admirals and Chicago Wolves.

Tomasino spent three seasons in the OHL with the Niagara Ice Dogs and Oshawa Generals. In three seasons, he scored 79 goals and 117 assists for 196 points in 190 career OHL games. During the 2019-20 campaign, Tomasino collected 40 goals and 60 assists for 100 points.

Internationally, Tomasino represented Canada at the 2021 World Junior Championship, tallying six points in seven games, and taking home a silver medal. 

The Penguins finished the 2024-25 season with a 34-36-12 record and 80 points, seventh in the Metropolitan Division and fourth last in the Eastern Conference. It was the third straight season Pittsburgh has missed the playoffs.

Sidney Crosby finished the year with 33 goals and 58 assists for 91 points, leading the team in both assists and points. Rickard Rakell led the team in goals with 35. Erik Karlsson led the blue line in all offensive categories, scoring 11 goals and 42 assists for 53 points.
