Pittsburgh Penguins Injury Report: Mike Sullivan Gives Latest Updates

The Pittsburgh Penguins season is all but over as we head into the final stretch, and now we've got a major update on three injuries to key Penguins as their lineup continues to change following injuries.

This season has largely been a disappointment in Pittsburgh, and as they set themselves up for a stretch run, they're unfortunately dealing with several major injuries.

On Wednesday, Mike Sullivan gave an update on all three players: Tommy Novak, Ryan Shea and Pierre-Olivier Joseph, and it appears as though nothing much has changed in the last few days.

At this point, Novak remains day-to-day after playing two games following his trade from Nashville, Shea remains week-to-week and unfortunately for the veteran Joseph, he remains out indefinitely, with no return looming anywhere on the horizon.

With all of the roster turnover following the 2025 trade deadline, these are three players the Penguins would love to have in the lineup, as other injuries and inconsistencies have forced them into changes that nobody saw coming.

Sitting in last place in the Metropolitan Division, the Penguins have very little to play for, so while these changes are being forced upon them, it's given them the opportunity to get a look at some younger talent over the final six weeks of the season.

In 2024/25, the Penguins have just 15 games remaining, so it's not looking good for a return of PO Joseph and potentially Shea, but after coming over in the trade from Nashville, the team will be hoping to get Novak back into the lineup to see what he can bring, with all three looking to push for consistent spots in this lineup next season.
