Player Profile: Jonathan Aspirot

Jonathan Aspirot was born on May 16, 1999, in Mascouche, Quebec. The defenseman played for two-plus seasons with Ecole De L’Odyssee and totaled 18 goals and 21 assists in 54 games. During the 2014-15 season, Aspirot joined Ulysse Academie Prep and had an assist in eight games. The next season, Aspirot played 47 games and registered seven goals and 22 assists.

In the 2015 QMJHL Draft, Aspirot was drafted in the fourth round by the Moncton Wildcats with the 69th overall selection. The 6-foot, 212-pound left-shot defenseman would play three seasons with Moncton, two as an assistant captain and one as captain. In 188 total regular season games, Aspirot tallied 22 goals and 51 assists with a minus-20. In 20 postseason games over two seasons, Aspirot collected four goals and four assists.

The Ottawa Senators Sign Jonathan Aspirot to an Entry-Level Contract

On April 13, 2020, The Ottawa Senators signed Jonathan Aspirot to a three-year entry-level contract worth $2.3 million. At 21 years old, Aspirot played with the American Hockey League’s Belleville Senators during the 2019-20 season and contributed two goals and 14 assists in 44 games. Aspirot spent the next three seasons with Belleville before signing a one year deal with the Calgary Flames on July 2, 2024.

Aspirot played two seasons with the Calgary Wranglers in the AHL, one as an assistant captain, and totaled 11 goals and 51 assists. On July 1, 2025, the Boston Bruins signed Aspirot to a one-year deal worth $775,000. Aspirot made his NHL debut with Boston on October 28, 2025, against the New York Islanders and blocked four shots.
