Player to watch vs. Stars: Joel Hofer
USA TODAY Sports

My player to watch for the St. Louis Blues against the Dallas Stars on Wednesday is goalie Joel Hofer.

Hofer was really good in his last start, a 4-1 win against the Florida Panthers, a game in which the goalie made an NHL career-high 37 saves and after getting three days off since their last game, a 7-5 come-from-behind win against the Chicago Blackhawks, interim coach Drew Bannister is going with Hofer in the first of three games in a four-game stretch.

And Hofer will get a big test against a very good Stars team that is at the top of the Central Division, a team the Blues just beat here 11 days ago, 4-3 in overtime on a Colton Parayko goal.

"It's a big test against a division rival," Hofer said. "It'll be a big test for us and a challenge I'm looking forward to."

It will be Hofer's second career start against the Stars.
