Power Finishes Third In Calder; Ex-Sabre Hall Gets Dealt

Edmonton goalie Stuart Skinner finished as the runner-up with 24 first-place votes and 1074 points, and Power finished received nine first-place votes and third with 929 points and was named to the NHL All-Rookie squad along with Beniers, Skinner, Wyatt Johnston of the Dallas Stars, Matias Macelli of the Arizona Coyotes, and Jake Sanderson of the Ottawa Senators. Sabres center Jack Quinn received three fifth-place votes and finished 11th in Calder voting.

Defenseman Rasmus Dahlin finished eighth in voting for the Norris Trophy behind fellow Swede Erik Karlsson, who won with 123 first-place votes and 460 points ahead of Adam Fox of the New York Rangers.

Tage Thompson received third and fourth-place votes for the Hart Trophy, finishing 14th behind winner Connor McDavid and votes for the First and Second NHL All-Star Teams.

Winger Victor Olofsson received a fourth and fifth place vote for the Lady Byng and was tied for 37th, Alex Tuch received a fourth-place vote and was tied for 39th place, and Jeff Skinner received a fifth-place vote and was tied for 48th place.

Ex-File Award Results

Former Sabres goaltender Linus Ullmark was awarded the Vezina Trophy for best goaltender, ahead of Ilya Sorokin of the New York Islanders and Connor Hellebuyck of the Winnipeg Jets.

Hall Goes To Chicago

The Boston Bruins were looking for cap relief to re-sign some of their pending free agents and moved out the final two years of former Sabre Taylor Hall’s deal in a trade with the Chicago Blackhawks. Hall was sent along with the expiring contract of winger Nick Foligno to the Hawks for defensemen Ian Mitchell and Alec Regula.

Hall struggled with injury most of last season and had just 36 points (16 goals, 20 assists) in 61 games for the President’s Trophy winners. The deal gives the Bruins $6 million in cap space, which they reportedly will use to re-sign winger Tyler Bertuzzi, while Hall will be a support piece and potential linemate for presumptive top overall pick Connor Bedard and the bottom-dwelling Hawks.
