Predators Could Reportedly Trade All-Star This Offseason

The Nashville Predators were one of the worst teams in the entire NHL this past season. As they get ready for the offseason, the front office could be very busy.

The Predators struggled to score the puck throughout the year, leading to a lot of issues on the ice. Part of this is due to the lack of youth and speed on the team.

For Nashville to begin getting back to contention, they will need to heavily upgrade the roster. This could mean that the team may need to move on from some key players.

And according to NHL insider Frank Seravalli of The Daily Faceoff, veteran Jonathan Marchessault could be a trade candidate this summer.

"And they’d be smart to also shed one of their long-term commitments to older players, too. The belief is Marchessault is open to moving on after one year in the Music City. His production dipped, like everyone’s, as Nashville struggled to score. But he’s eminently capable of bouncing back with a 30-goal season with strong value to cap."

Due to the direction that the team is heading, Marchessault no longer fits the rebuild of this organization. Marchessault has seen a lot of success in the league, with much of it coming while with the Vegas Golden Knights.

The former All-Star can still provide a spark to a playoff team, and it could see someone take a chance on him. While he has lost a step, he did score 21 goals and 35 assists last season.

If he can make his way onto a better team, he may be able to help out even more. Look for Nashville to be proactive this offseason as the front office tries to reset the team.
