Victor Soderstrom was born on February 26, 2001, in Skutskar, Sweden. The right-shot defenseman played for Brynas U16 in the Elit division during the 2015-16 season and contributed 13 goals and 16 assists in 24 games. The next season, Soderstrom played 36 total games for the U18 team and tallied ten goals and 28 assists with a plus-21. During the 2018-19 season, Soderstrom leveled up to the Swedish Hockey League with Brynas and collected four goals and three assists in 44 games while also playing for Sweden in the World Junior Championships as an assistant captain. Now draft eligible, the 6-foot, 200-pound blueliner played one more season for Brynas.
With the 11th overall selection in the 2019 NHL Draft, the Arizona Coyotes chose Victor Soderstrom. Soderstrom played 32 games with the Tucson Roadrunners of the American Hockey League after signing his entry-level contract. Soderstrom totaled two goals and eight assists with a minus-16.
On January 22, 2021, Victor Soderstrom made his NHL debut against the Vegas Golden Knights and played 23 shifts over 15:18 of ice time and was a plus-1. Soderstrom scored his first NHL goal on May 7 against the San Jose Sharks. On September 15, 2024, Soderstrom signed to return to Brynas and leave the NHL. The Utah Hockey Club traded the rights to Soderstrom to the Chicago Blackhawks on March 7, 2025. However, the Blackhawks could not sign Soderstrom and eventually traded the defenseman to Boston on June 13, 2025. The Bruins signed Soderstrom to a one-year, two-way contract worth $775,000 the next day.
