Quinn Hughes Receives Message From Canucks After Wild Trade

The Vancouver Canucks posted their first public response to Quinn Hughes following Friday’s blockbuster trade that sent the longtime captain to the Minnesota Wild.

The deal saw Vancouver move Hughes for a package composed of three former first-round picks in Marco Rossi, Zeev Buium and Liam Ohgren, as well as another first-rounder in the 2026 NHL Draft.

Hughes broke his silence after the trade on Saturday night, posting a farewell message on Instagram, reflecting on his seven seasons in Vancouver and thanking the franchise's ownership and staff.

The Canucks’ official account replied directly to the post, writing, “Thank you for everything Captain ”

Hughes’ message acknowledged the connection he built in Vancouver during his time playing for the Canucks.

“I am very proud to have played for the Vancouver Canucks for 7 years, I loved the passion in the city & it brought me some of the most exciting times of my life, living out my dream. What makes playing in Vancouver so special is the people, the city, and what the team means to them! I will always be proud to have represented the Canucks!” Hughes wrote.

Hughes also offered thanks to ownership.

“I want to thank Francesco Aquilini and the entire Aquilini family for everything they have done for me the last seven years, they have been first class and I will always be grateful to them. Thank you to Jim Rutherford and Adam Foote for their belief and mentorship. All the staff over the years for always being there for me. Thank you to my teammates, met some of my best friends,” Hughes wrote.
