With the New York Rangers starting the massive shakeup of the roster, could the team send Jonathan Quick to the West? According to an NHL insider, he's been linked to the Edmonton Oilers.

With the New York Rangers moving assets quickly, the next trade target could be veteran goalie Jonathan Quick.

Quick has experience in the playoffs and could provide a veteran presence on an Edmonton Oilers squad that's been to the Stanley Cup Final once, but were unable to get over the last hurdle.

With Dylan Garand soon to make the jump to the NHL, Quick could find himself on another team soon, as NHL insider Allan Mitchell has him linked to the Edmonton Oilers.

According to Allan Mitchell, the Edmonton Oilers have been connected to Quick.

While the Oilers and GM Stan Bowman have specified they're not actively looking to add to their goaltending situation, they could change easily come March.

The Oilers have also said that they are not actively looking to alter their goaltending. Since that was said, the team has done very well and has been winning a lot of games with strong goaltending from Stuart Skinner and Calvin Pickard.

The 38-year-old goaltender is on an expiring $1.275 million deal and could be added at the trade deadline as a rental.

He could be a third goalie in the toughest stretch of the Oilers' next playoff run, should they find themselves in the thick of things come June.

Could Quick be the netminder the Oilers need?

Pickard has a 2.51 GAA and .898 SV%, but has allowed more than three goals against in just two of 12 starts this season. Quick has lost three starts in a row and allowed 14 goals over that span of games. Going back two more starts, he allowed nine more goals against. Since back-to-back shutouts in mid-November, he and the Rangers have been much worse.

Stuart Skinner helped lead the Oilers to the promised land last season, and it's not unreasonable to think he could "run it back" with the team again this season.

While it's not ridiculous to consider the team could bolster their net presence with Jonathan Quick, the Rangers wouldn't be able to get much for him.

Quick has played 13 games for the Rangers this season and won six of those starts with a 2.54 GAA and a .913 save percentage.
