Rangers Replay: Ryan Reaves drops the gloves for the first time; dominates Michael Pezzetta

New York Rangers fans have been waiting for Ryan Reaves to drop the gloves since he got to Broadway.

It took him 16 games, but the 34 year-old enforcer was challenged by young Habs center Michael Pezzetta after a big hit. A decision the 23 year-old rookie would soon regret.

Reaves, who is listed at 6-foot-2 and 225 pounds, picked up the 72 fighting major of his career.

The Rangers extended him soon after the trade with an additional year at $1.75 million. He’s a player the organization has been interested in for years and so far is providing the spark both on and off the ice the team wanted.

In 697 career NHL games for the St. Louis Blues (2010-11 to 2016-17), Pittsburgh Penguins (2017-18), Vegas (2017-18 to 2020-21) and Rangers, Reaves has 49 goals, 52 assists and 948 penalty minutes.

Based on the video fans loved it, but maybe not as much as Kaapo Kakko.
