The New York Rangers have signed Taylor Raddysh to a two-year contract with an annual average value of $1.5 million.
This marks Raddysh’s third team in three years after stints with the Chicago Blackhawks and Washington Capitals. Raddysh had seven goals and 27 points with the Capitals last season and added another assist in seven playoff games in a bottom-line role.
Drafted 58th overall in 2016, Raddysh has primarily served as a bottom-six forward everywhere he has played. He started with the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2021-22, but was traded to the Blackhawks at the NHL Trade Deadline. He set a personal best of 20 goals and 37 points in 2022-23, but hasn’t been able to crack the 30-point mark ever since.
To date, Raddysh has 43 goals and 100 points in 305 games over four seasons.
The 27-year-old is the younger brother of Lightning defenseman Darren Raddysh, who is set to make $975,000 on his contract this season.
Outside of the NHL, Raddysh won the OHL championship with the Erie Otters in 2016-17. That same season, he won silver at the World Junior Championship before winning gold with Canada in 2018.
The Rangers have been busy today, trading K’Andre Miller in a deal that sent Scott Morrow to the Big Apple. The team also signed Vladislav Gavrikov to a five-year contract and Will Cuylle to a new two-year deal. The team also added depth forward Justin Dowling on a two-year contract.
According to Puckpedia, the Rangers have $777,976 in projected cap space with 23 players on the active roster. In June, GM Chris Dury sent franchise legend Chris Kreider to Anaheim in a bid to increase his salary cap flexibility.
The Rangers missed out on the playoffs in 2024-25, but are hoping some of the offseason changes can get them back on the right track.
