The Ontario Reign’s leading scorer and AHL MVP of the last two seasons, TJ Tynan, has signed a two-year extension with the team.
On Tuesday, the LA Kings organization announced that Tynan had agreed to a two-year deal carrying an average annual value of $787,500. This puts Tynan on track to be with the Reign until the conclusion of the 2023-24 season. Per PuckPedia, Tynan’s contract is two-way in Year 1, with the second year being an AHL one-way.
Last season, Tynan’s first with the team, he tallied 14 goals and 98 points in a stellar campaign for the the Reign. His 84 assists put him four shy of tying an AHL record for most assists in a single AHL season.
Retaining Tynan for another season keeps the Reign’s strongest scorers on the team and sets the Reign up for another strong outing in the 2022-23 season.
With Tynan’s signing, this leaves just Jaret Anderson-Dolan, Johan Sodergran, Vladimir Tkachev, and Martin Frk to be signed for Ontario’s forward core to remain the same as it did last season.
Remembering that Frk and Anderson-Dolan are Tynan’s usual line mates, this would seem to be only the first signing of a necessary cadre of contracts to be handed out.
