One year after the Oilers lost in Game 7 of the finals to the Panthers, Zach Hyman made a speech that went viral, and the clip has once again resurfaced.

A year after the Edmonton Oilers' heart-wrenching 2-1 loss to the Florida Panthers in Game 7 of the 2024 Stanley Cup Final, one proud moment from that night is back in the spotlight.

A video clip of Zach Hyman's heartfelt postgame speech, via the Oilers Plus crew, has once again been making the rounds on social media, reminding us of a team that would not quit.

In the footage, Hyman addresses the devastated locker room, encouraging his teammates who had just staged an incredible comeback from a 3-0 series deficit, only to fall just short. His message was simple.

'There's nothing that's going to make this feel better, but I know we're gonna be back.'

- Zach Hyman

As promised, the Oilers returned. After a dominating playoff run that saw them dispatch the Kings, Golden Knights, and Stars, Edmonton has assured itself of a rematch with the Panthers in the 2025 Stanley Cup Final.

Hyman will sadly miss out on playing in the finals due to an injury

The storylines are rich, the stakes are higher, and the city of Edmonton is buzzing again. Unfortunately for Hyman, he will have to cheer his team on from the sidelines after suffering that horrible broken wrist injury in Round 3 vs. the Stars.

Over the summer following the loss, the Oilers were able to retain most of their core intact, re-signing top UFAs like Adam Henrique, Corey Perry, Connor Brown, Mattias Janmark, Troy Stecher, and Calvin Pickard.

Few players, such as Warren Foegele and Ryan McLeod, departed. Perhaps the most touching memory from that Game 7 night was of Connor McDavid, awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP, declining in public to take it.

He remained in the locker room, heartbroken, with his team while Hyman delivered his heartfelt oration.

Today, a year later, that promise of return was realized, and the Oilers have their opportunity for redemption, with fans knowing they'll get the job done.
