The Carolina Hurricanes have believed in Rod Brind'Amour, but if they lose in the Eastern Conference Finals this year, the seat he's on may start getting much, much hotter.
Through two games of this seasons Eastern Conference Finals, the Carolina Hurricanes have been embarrassed, and after a 5-0 defeat in Game 2, Head Coach Rod Brind'Amour has called the team out.
That comes after the team managed a total of just 17 total shots in the game, and with this loss, it marks the 14th straight defeat at the Eastern Conference Finals level for this team, as they continue to fall short at the final hurdle before the Stanley Cup Finals.
While it's been embarrassing thus far, if they can't turn things around against Florida, there may be some major changes looming for the organization, with calls to move on from Brind'Amour if the team can't put up a significant fight in this series.
This past off-season, the veteran coach just signed a multi-year extension with the team, but with the lacklustre play and uninspired offense, if the team continue putting up such bad performances, there's no way he can remain behind the bench.
There's still plenty of time left in this series however, but given the way they've played offensively this post-season, unless they can shut down the juggernaut offense of the Florida Panthers, there's just no way they'll compete in this series.
Ultimately, Brind'Amour has done a fantastic job in Carolina during his tenure, but this front office hired him to take the team to the Stanley Cup Finals, and if they fall at the final hurdle again, they may have no choice but to move on from him as their bench boss.
