The previous record was held by the legendary Paul Kariya, who in 2005-06 scored 31 goals and 85 points in 82 games.
Not long ago, Josi had set the Predators single-season record for assists in a season, passing the 54 Kariya had in that 2005-06 season.
Josi, 31, has aged like a fine wine, and now in his 11th season, he has been absolutely dominating the league. Through 68 games, he’s now scored 19 goals and 68 assists totaling 87 points.
His game has hit a new level in 2022 as well. Since the new year struck, he’s been playing at a 123-point pace. The performance Josi has put on this year is nothing short of tremendous.
He ranks eighth in league scoring as a whole and is 12 points up on the second-highest-scoring defenseman, Cale Makar.
With 12 games left in the regular season, Josi needs just 13 points to break the 100-point mark. If he does it, he would become the first rearguard to do so since Brian Leetch put up 102 points across 80 games in the regular season.
