The Dallas Stars will play a full 82-game season in 2025-26, but two of their top players are already looking ahead to February's Olympic Games in Milan-Cortina. Roope Hintz and Miro Heiskanen represented the franchise this week as part of the NHL's European media tour, joining 24 other European-born players in Italy.
The event was highlighted by a visit to San Siro, the historic home of AC Milan, where players helped announce a partnership between the NHL and Serie A soccer. For Hintz, however, the trip also provided an important update on the injury that ended his last postseason on a painful note.
Hintz broke his foot in the Western Conference Final against Edmonton after a slash from defenseman Darnell Nurse in a controversial play that drew only a minor penalty. He missed Game 3 of the series but returned for Games 4 and 5, even scoring a goal, before Dallas was eliminated.
On Friday, Hintz reassured Stars fans that the injury is behind him.
"I'm feeling good. My foot is fine and I've been able to train normally this summer. So everything is good,"he told reporters, as relayed by The Hockey News.
That's welcome news for Dallas, which will need its top center healthy after three straight Western Conference Final appearances. It also matters for Finland, where both Hintz and Heiskanen are expected to play massive roles in Milan. The 2026 Games mark the first time NHL players will compete at the Olympics since 2014, giving the tournament extra weight.
Personally, I think this is the best possible update for Stars fans. Hintz's health, combined with Heiskanen's consistency, could make Dallas one of the most dangerous teams in both the NHL season and the Olympic spotlight.
